Elkem signs long-term power supply agreement with Hafslund
Elkem has recently signed a power supply agreement with Hafslund, the second largest power producer in Norway. Under the agreement, Hafslund will provide approximately 400 gigawatt hours of electricity annually to Elkem from 2028 to 2035. This partnership will ensure a stable power supply for Elkem's Thamshavn plant in central Norway and set the groundwork for future investments.
Elkem's Thamshavn plant is the third largest exporter in Tr?ndelag county of Norway. With 150 employees, its silicon metal and high-quality silica fume products are essential raw materials for wellness?and personal care products, solar batteries, new energy vehicles, electronic products, and construction. More than 90 percent of the electricity that supports the production and operations of Elkem's factories?in Norway is generated by renewable hydropower resources. This advantage will facilitate Elkem to continue to provide key raw materials for a green industrial chain of the world and promote sustainable development of the industry.
